UNESCO endeavours to explore creativity in the Arab region, particularly by gauging the influence of the Arabic language and digital transformation, specifically among young people, whilst highlighting the broader impact of cultural and creative industries upon development and social cohesion, and their progressive establishment in the public policies of countries.

UNESCO has invited artists from the Arab Region to share their perspectives through their creative art, providing their visions about their environment, including in the challenging context of the prevailing sanitary crisis.

The third solo exhibition by Abdelrahman Elshahed.

The exhibition coincides with the announcement of the registration of “Arabic Calligraphy” in the UNESCO list with the efforts led by Saudi Arabia in collaboration with Arab countries, and for the closure of the “Year of Arabic Calligraphy 2021” initiative launched by the Ministry of Culture.

Workshop: Discover Arabic calligraphy and contemporary architectural design

This workshop is brought to you by MNWR Foundation in collaboration with Makhtut Studio, a creative research space dedicated to integrating contemporary design with Arabic calligraphy. Since its establishment in 2011, Makhtut Studio has been committed to providing a free educational hour in art for every creative work it produces.

Participants will engage in hands-on activities that explore the fusion of traditional calligraphy with contemporary design. This workshop is ideal for both beginners and experienced artists looking to enhance their creative skills while supporting the art of Arabic calligraphy across various forms and fostering collaborations between diverse design disciplines.
